Skinny Peppermint Mocha Green Smoothie (Vegan + GF)
This homemade skinny peppermint mocha green smoothie recipe is a healthy copycat version of the iconic Starbucks drink, made without any of the harmful additives and excess sugar. It’s full of classic mint chocolate, creamy coffee flavor, plus tons of vitamins and nutrients to nourish your body through the season.

Why you should never drink Starbucks Peppermint Mocha Again
A grande non-fat Peppermint Mocha with whipped cream at Starbucks clocks in at a whopping 400 calories, 55 grams of sugar and 63 grams of carbs (source). Yikes!
Their peppermint mocha frappuccino is even worse–410 calories, 65 grams of sugar and 69 grams of carbs!
Compare that to this peppermint mocha smoothie and you’re looking at just 137 calories, less than 1 gram of sugar and just over 7 grams of carbs. No contest.
Now I know what you might be thinking–yeah but this is a green smoothie and Starbucks’ is a creamy coffee drink. But hear me out:
This peppermint mocha green smoothie has all of that classic Starbucks flavor (the chocolate, the peppermint, the coffee) and it’s made super creamy and decadent with coconut milk.
BUT you get none of the guilt, sugar-rush-then-crash, low-quality dairy (from Monsanto cows; source) and harmful additives and preservatives, like Natural and Artificial Flavor, Caramel Color, Sodium Benzoate, Xantham Gum, Citric Acid, Vanillin, Mono And Diglycerides, Carrageenan, Potassium Sorbate, Soy Lecithin and EXTREME amounts of sugar.
Yes, those are really the ingredients found in a peppermint mocha at Starbucks (source). Pretty scary, right?
In their place, you’ll find tons of nourishing vitamins and minerals, like Vitamin K, Magnesium and Iron. And I swear, even though this peppermint mocha smoothie is super healthy, it doesn’t taste like spinach.
The leafy greens go unnoticed tastewise, and the flavors that come through are that iconic mint chocolate and creamy coffee. YUM!
This peppermint mocha smoothie recipe is a perfect example of how eating healthy can still be insanely delicious.
I never understand why people always think that if you get rid of chemicals and additives made in a lab, that you also get rid of flavor.
Real, natural ingredients are full of flavor and, contrary to popular belief, when you drink this smoothie, I don’t think you’ll feel at all like you’re drinking a flavorless version of Starbucks’ peppermint mocha.
No, other than the color of this smoothie, and how amazing you’ll feel after drinking it, there’s very little difference tastewise.
Sacrifice will be the last word that comes to mind while you’re drinking it. Promise!

- 2 cups organic spinach
- 1 tablespoon raw cacao nibs (I recommend Navitas Naturals)
- 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder (I recommend Navitas Naturals)
- 1/2 teaspoon organic peppermint extract (I recommend Frontier Co-Op Organic)
- 1/2 cup organic, unsweetened coconut milk (I recommend Native Forest Simple)
- 1 cup cold brew coffee
- 1 cup ice
Combine all ingredients into a large, high-powered blender (I recommend Vitamix) and blend until smooth and creamy.
Serve and enjoy!
