Ready to up your wellness this new year? We've got you covered with a variety of ways to be healthy in 2019, ranging from creative approaches to be happy by combating stress and insomnia, to how to test your body for personalized and actionable health results, to what foods and healthy living services we recommend to add ease and simplicity into your life.

This post is sponsored by Health Warrior and EverlyWell. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that make it possible for Root + Revel to provide free content and healthy living inspiration.

We're now a few weeks into 2019–how are your goals and intentions shaping up so far?

We all know with a new year comes the inevitable “new year, new you” mindset. While I'm all onboard for improving your health and quality of life, I think it's important to take small steps that are attainable, versus trying to do a full-on overhaul of your life and change everything at once.

We all know that never works and, ultimately, adds more stress into your life as you overextend yourself and then feel disappointed when you ‘fail' at living up to an impossible standard.

So, instead of beating up on ourselves and shooting for overly ambitious goals, let's embrace 2019 with kindness, presence and excitement for what's to come, shall we?

My advice: pick one, two or three things max at a time that you want to focus on improving, and once those are integrated and part of your normal routine and lifestyle, then you can pick new goals. This ensures your changes will be sustainable, and by the end of the year, you really will be amazed at the ‘new you' that has naturally blossomed!

Need some ideas? Here are 25 ways you can be healthy moving into 2019… and beyond!

25 Ways to Be Healthy in 2019: Maximize your nutrition in minimal time with convenient superfoods like Health Warrior

1) Maximize your nutrition in minimal time with convenient superfoods.

I get it–when our time feels maxed out, convenience is king. Lucky for us, that no longer has to equate to nasty fast food and junky processed snacks. There are so many healthy, real food options out there these days that are nourishing and pack a seriously nutrient-dense punch.

Whether on-the-go and in need of an afternoon superfood snack, or if a handy and reliable breakfast option is what you need to get your mornings going with ease, I love Health Warrior's products, which are all gluten-, dairy-, GMO- and soy free.

When I'm in the mood for something with a touch of sweetness, Health Warrior’s Chia Bars and Pumpkin Seed Protein Bars (the chocolate peanut butter will ROCK.YOUR.WORLD!) really hit the spot! I’m not a fan of overly sugary bars, which is why I love these bars so much–they are made predominantly with plant-based superfoods and low amounts of natural sugars.

If you're more of a smoothie girl, Health Warrior's Superfood Protein Powder is simply delicious and sugar-free. It boasts a clean, plant-based ingredient list from real foods like pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, chia seeds, and hemp seeds (vs. many protein powders on the market that use grains). It's actually free of added sugar and has only two grams of naturally-occurring sugar per serving, which means it won’t spike your blood sugar unlike most other protein powders out there.

When you're really in a hurry, their new Protein Mug Muffins are ready in under a minute. Just add water, stir and microwave and you've got a warm, spoonable blueberry, banana nut or peanut butter chocolate chip muffin at the ready! These are perfect for kids with 12 grams of proteins and made from superfoods like sorghum, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, and almonds.

This is really one of the easiest swaps to make in the new year–simply replace your old-school, artificial snacks like Nutri-Grain bars or that $4 sugary muffin from your corner coffee place for much healthier superfood options like Health Warrior.

You can buy Health Warrior’s products direct through their website–where they have a ‘best price guarantee’ AND you can get 20% off your order with the code rootandrevel20, whoop!–and also on Amazon or at Thrive Market.

2) Track your health with at-home test kits.

Never before have we had access to such personalized health options like we do today. As we're learning, there isn't a “one size fits all” approach when it comes to health, but rather bio-individuality that determines what's best for us when it comes to our healthiest foods, supplements, exercise routines, etc.

I'm all for health tests that measure things like hormone levels, vitamin and mineral levels, food sensitivities and other health markers. If you don't know what's out of balance, how can you possibly fix it? So many people use their symptoms to guess what could be ailing them, but shooting in the dark isn't a good idea when it comes to your health.

RELATED:  The Best At Home Health Tests

Not only are you likely wasting time and money on things you don't need, but you could actually be making yourself WORSE when eating foods you're sensitive to, or overdoing it on a certain supplement, or simply not addressing the root of the problem.

If you really want to take your health into your own hands this year, I highly recommend taking at-home health tests like EverlyWell, where you can test everything from your hormones with their Women's Health test, to your Metabolism, to Thyroid, to Food Sensitivities to Omega-3s and a whole lot more. There are over 30 to choose from!

It's seriously so easy–prick your finger, send off the test and get your physician-reviewed results emailed to you in about a week or so without ever leaving your house. Never has personalized health been so easy!

Right now, you can take 10% off your EverlyWell order with the code SOLUTIONS (offer ends 2/15/19)!

3) Nourish your gut.

With an ever-increasing number of people getting diagnosed with conditions like Leaky Gut, IBS, and IBD, gut health is a serious issue. In fact, millions of people are struggling with Leaky Gut and don't even know it! (source)

Did you know that if you have symptoms like seasonal allergies, brain fog, skin issues and hormone imbalances that the true source could be your gut? The father of modern medicine, Hippocrates, said, “All disease begins in the gut.” Now–more than two thousand years later–scientific research has proven how modern diets and lifestyles negatively contribute to overall health by damaging our digestive system (several thousand articles exist to date!).

Your gut is where nearly 80% of your immune system lives and where up to 95% of your serotonin (the primary neurotransmitter responsible for your mood) is produced. That's why if your gut is unhealthy or out of balance, chances are that you have symptoms ranging from bloating and gas to depression to skin disorders, to name a few.

Be sure you're nourishing good bacteria in your microbiome with foods and supplements like collagen, bone broth, fermented foods (e.g. kimchi, sauerkraut, kefir, miso and kombucha), bitter leafy greens, digestive enzymes, a probiotic supplement (my favorite is Seed’s Daily Synbiotic–go here to use the code ROOTANDREVEL to get 15% off your first month!) and prebiotic foods (like flax and chia seeds, coconut, jicama, garlic and leeks).

4) Ditch the sugar.

Sugar negatively impacts just about every organ in the body. Ingesting too much added sugar increases your risk of dying from cardiovascular disease, getting conditions like Leaky Gut, Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, Type 2 Diabetes, and certain cancers like colon, breast, intestinal and esophageal. (source)

While I am a firm believer in the 80:20 rule, it's still best to reduce your sugar intake as much as possible. Is it your birthday? Then have cake, for pete's sake! Just don't make sugar part of your daily intake, especially the really notorious kinds like refined white sugar and high fructose corn syrup.

Ways to be healthy: get moving with exercise, yoga

5) Get moving with exercise.

I know we're not getting creativity points here for putting exercise on a list of ways to be healthy, but it's an obvious and necessary inclusion for a reason. Be sure to check out our recs for the Best Fun + Motivational Workout Videos here.

If intense exercising isn't your thing, try something that's more gentle (yet hugely effective) like yoga. There are some pretty amazing apps for yoga that have videos for all fitness levels, from beginner to advanced. Check out Yoga Download and Gaia (get your first month here for just $.99!) if you love practicing in the privacy of your living room, or maybe an in-person class at a local studio is more your speed.

Or, try mixing up your workouts by making them fun, like tracking your progress with a Fitbit. a physical activity tracker wristband that wirelessly syncs to your body and movements, tracking data like sleep, activity, heart rate and steps. You can also manually input exercise, food, weight and more into their app.

Ways to be healthy: healthy meal delivery, Sun Basket

6) Healthy Meal Delivery.

Again, just because you're in a hurry doesn't mean you have to succumb to greasy takeout or fast food. There are SO many meal delivery options these days that it can actually be pretty overwhelming trying to research them all.

I've tried literally dozens of them, and my current top picks are Sun Basket and Freshly.

With Freshly, you get to pick from 30+ preservative- gluten- and refined sugar-free meals, prepared by chefs and ready in just three minutes. I'm particularly enjoying the veggie penne, chicken tikka masala and the Southwest veggie bowl. As of 2019, they're delivering nationwide and for a limited time, you can try out Freshly and save $60 ($15 each week for your first four weeks).

Sun Basket is a healthy meal kit service that delivers organic, sustainable ingredients and delicious recipes to make cooking at home fun and easy. I love the service so much that I personally pay for it and rely on it at least 1-2 times each month. Join me and get $90 off Sun Basket delivery here!

Finally, for pre-portioned, no prep, no mess superfood soups, smoothies, lattes, and bowls (like chia, oatmeal and savory veggie bowls), I also love Daily Harvest. Their meals and snacks are developed by a nutritionist but created by a chef, with no preservatives or added sugars, either! In recent months I couldn't get enough of their Oats + Cacao Smoothie that tastes like Oatmeal Cookie Dough–so yum. The black sesame smoothie is also to die for!

What is an Anti-inflammatory Diet? Here, we dive deep into the meaning and causes of inflammation, plus get a list of anti inflammatory foods and what foods to avoid.

7) Opt for grass-fed, grass-finished, pasture-raised and organic meat, dairy and eggs.

There are so many reasons to choose healthy and humanely raised animal proteins, eggs and dairy products. We wrote an extensive article all about it along with how to decode all the different labels and certifications like grass-fed vs. organic vs. free range vs. pasture-raised and many more in this Animal Welfare Guide.

In a nutshell, organic food is always produced without artificial hormones, antibiotics, chemicals persistent pesticides, and is always non-GMO.

Grass-fed meat and dairy contain more beta-carotene and omega-3 fatty acids–which may prevent dementia as well as heart disease–and are also higher in conjugated lineoleic acid (CLA), a healthy omega-6 that’s been shown to lessen symptoms of inflammatory disorders such as allergies and asthma.

So next time you're out shopping, look for USDA Organic products first (it’s the most comprehensive starting point), followed by 100% grass-fed and grass-finished meats and dairy and 100% pasture-raised eggs and chickens.

Or, make it easy on yourself and get grass-fed and grass-finished beef, free range organic chicken, and heritage breed pork delivered to your door with ButcherBox!

Ways to be healthy: swap toxic toiletries for clean beauty products

8) Swap toxic toiletries for clean beauty products.

Did you know that there are 80,000+  chemicals found in beauty and personal care products–even the high-end ones from department stores and luxe beauty boutiques–most of which have not been tested for safety?

It can be overwhelming at first when you start researching this stuff and realize that you need to swap out most of your toiletries, makeup, hair care and other personal care items (like tampons), so my recommendation is to pick one or two items to start, like trying a new foundation or body wash. Then every month you continue with buying a new item or two until you've completely made the switch to safer beauty.

We talk a TON about this here on R+R, so here are some of our best resources on this topic:

9) Use essentials oils.

From making your own cleaning products or beauty products, to aromatherapy and air fresheners and use in natural remedies, essential oils can seemingly combat nearly anything.

Check out WishGarden Herbs and Oilogic for artisanal herbal remedies that actually work! WishGarden Herbs handcrafts their organic and sustainably wild-harvested herbs into a number of oils that address everything from immune system health to sleep, allergies, pregnancy (I love this Sleepy Nights for Pregnancy blend) and more.

Oilogic focuses on remedies for symptoms like cold and cough, headaches, sinuses and itch relief to name a few, plus their Essential Oil Roll-ons and Ouchies and Boo Boo Ointment are MADE SAFE certified–one of the best non-toxic certifications you can get.

Also be sure to check out Plant Therapy–their oils are 100% pure, free from any additives, adulterants, or dilutions. Their essential oils come in varieties like synergies, singles, organic, and pre-diluted roll-ons, and their facility is USDA Certified Organic. Their prices are also super reasonable, plus you can get 10% off your order of $50 or more sitewide with the coupon code ROOT10!

Ways to be healthy: don't stress. meditate

10) Don't stress. Meditate.

Most of us have to cope with significant amounts of lifestyle, relationship, emotional and work stress on a daily basis. Some of it's big, but a lot of it is simple, everyday stress from our modern, fast-paced lifestyles.

Sadly, stress is one of the leading causes of illness, depression and suicide. (source) In fact, Harvard researchers estimate that 80% of doctor’s visits are caused by stress. (source)

While easier said than done to simply “not stress”, one super helpful and proven process to combat stress is meditation. (Here's just one study showing the benefits of meditation on stress.)

If you find it hard to stay still and present, I highly recommend the Ziva Meditation method, which really helped me when I was first starting to meditate. In just 15 days, the zivaONLINE course will help you relieve stress and develop an enjoyable mindfulness, meditation and manifesting practice to take with you for life. Ready to get started? You can download their FREE Stress Less meditation here!

Gaia also has some great meditations, and I can't say enough positive things about about the app Headspace–their anxiety series SAVED ME when I was having panic attacks a few years back.

11) Get Quality Sleep.

It's said that 50% of adults suffer from insomnia a few nights a week (source), and that ongoing sleep deficiency is linked to an increased risk of heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke (source). Yikes!

Here are some tips to get those Z's in:

  • Get into a routine of going to bed and waking up at the same time every day
  • Don't eat in the last 2-3 hours before bed, so that your body isn't using its energy to digest when you're trying to fall asleep
  • Unplug at least an hour before bed–no artificial blue lights from TVs, phones, tablets or computers as they can interfere with your sleep since your body thinks it's time to be awake
  • Relax before bed by taking an epsom salt bath, have a cup of herbal tea like Traditional Medicinals Nighty Night, dim the lights and use essential oils like lavender or sleep blends
  • Meditate (yep, it's back again!)–meditation gives you a set aside time to get rid of stress in the body, so you can use your sleep as a time for sleep (and Ziva Meditation has been shown to have a 90% success rate with insomnia, wow!)

Ways to be healthy: eat more plants

12) Eat more plants.

While I personally feel like I need healthy sources of animal protein to thrive, I'm also all about eating as many plant-based whole foods as possible. Oftentimes, I eat vegetarian for breakfast and lunch and only have animal protein at dinner.

Plant foods, and in particular fresh vegetables and fruits, are the most concentrated sources of many of the nutrients the human body needs in order to thrive. Fruits and vegetables provide antioxidants, phytochemicals, phytosterols, fiber, enzymes, prebiotics and probiotics, essential fats and proteins, vitamins, and minerals.

Instead of trying to reduce your animal-based products, first add in more fruits and veggies in your diet–you'll likely naturally reduce your animal consumption without even trying.

13) Breathe clean air.

Indoor air pollution from things like dust, pet dander, mold spores, smoke and pollen–combined with ozone, invisible gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted by building materials, furniture, carpets, paint, cleaning and personal care products–cause enormous levels of both short- and long-term symptoms.

Short-term symptoms can include things like coughing, itchy skin, watery eyes, fatigue, and nasal congestion, among others. Long-term risks can include respiratory diseases, heart disease, and cancer, and can be severely debilitating and have a tremendous impact on the quality of everyday life. Health conditions may show up either years after exposure has occurred or only after long or repeated periods of exposure. (source)

This topic isn't talked about enough, and in March we'll be publishing a guide all about the importance of clean air along with our recommendations for the best air filters and dehumidifiers. Based on our initial research, we're really loving the Air Doctor Pro LINK TK, Blueair, Stadler Form Roger Air Purifier and Eva-Dry's eco-friendly dehumidifiers.

14) Spend more time being social–in real life.

Despite the prevalence of social media, loneliness or “social isolation” is becoming an epidemic–and in fact, the increase of social media use is ironically correlated WITH higher rates of loneliness, depression and social anxiety! (source)

While I don't want to villainize social media as it certainly can support community building and spreading awareness and knowledge, in general we're no longer experiencing the type of human connections that, up until now, we have been for centuries–and clearly our emotional intelligence and well-being is suffering.

In fact, face-to-face interactions release important feel-good substances like seratonin, oxytocin and pheromones. (source)

So, make it a goal to take a walk with a friend on the weekend, or have some family friends over for dinner and games–and make an effort to put down your phone more often.

If you're curious, here are some recommended books on this topic: Reclaiming Conversation: The Power of Talk in a Digital Age, I'd Like You More if You Were More Like Me: Getting Real About Getting Closeand The Blue Zones: 9 Lessons for Living Longer from the People Who've Lived the Longest

15) Work smarter, not harder.

It's easy to get caught up in the rat race and mega comparison mode with things like social media, but I've found it's essential for me to reduce stress by working on the things in my business and my life that really moves the needle, and not all the noise that's so easy to get distracted by.

What do I need to focus on to meet my goals (and then cut out or outsource the rest)? If this was easy, what would it look like? What's the 20% I need to give my attention to that's going to make 80% of the difference? These are some of the questions I ask myself to help prioritize.

I highly recommend the book The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris if you're interested in this approach.

In fact, with my pregnancy and maternity leave last year, I worked less than I ever have and R+R still had its best year yet and doubled our revenue from 2017–so this stuff really works!

Ways to be healthy: drink clean water

16) Drink clean water.

I wish we lived in a world where clean drinking water was a given, but unfortunately it's not–not even in the United States (the EPA has admitted that over 23 million Americans consume contaminated water… yikes!)

I can't stress enough just how important it is to make sure that your water–which we all know is critical for our survival!–is filtered, as regular tap water just doesn't cut it the vast majority of times.

Reports show that some of the most common chemical contaminants in American water include chloroform, lead and arsenic (which are all dangerous, even in small concentrations), plus unregulated substances like pesticides, pathogens, hormones, chemical runoff and pharmaceuticals (the US Geological Survey even found pharmaceuticals in 80% of all the water supplies they tested–ick!!).

These are just a few of the scary stats, but rest assured: with a simple solution like a trusted water filter, you can be certain that you and your family (and your furry friends!) are getting pure, clean water… and it's more affordable than you might think! My favorite brand is Aquasana.

17) Eat seasonally and locally.

There’s nothing like getting fresh fruits and vegetables from your local farmer’s market or CSA to inspire clean, healthy eating. Plus, you'll get the most nutrients from your food because it's at its freshest point, all while supporting farmers and businesses in your area.

Check our seasonal guides with 25-100 recipes focused on in-season produce:

18) Drink high-quality coffee and tea.

Did you know that drinking coffee is associated with lower mortality rates? (source) For example, there's a strong correlation between increased coffee consumption and reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, a 20% decreased risk of stroke, and over 1000 studies have linked coffee to cancer prevention. (source)

Be careful, though–regular coffee bean production also typically involves synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides–ick! Coffee that’s certified organic means you’re getting a cleaner bean, so always opt for an organic bag.

Organic coffee is far less acidic than regular coffee, making it easier to digest.  Bulletproof offers a super high quality coffee that’s not only organic, but certified clean with independent lab tests showing it’s clear of 27 toxins, including mycotoxins (which come from mold).

If you prefer decaf (like me), I've recently been loving Blue Spruce, a super clean, organic decaf coffee that's shade grown and more sustainable for the environment.

Are you coffee pod person? No worries! If you have a Keurig or other single-use coffee machine, there are now RECYCLABLE AND ORGANIC coffee pods! It’s SO rare to have single-serve coffee pods be sustainably sourced, fair-trade and recyclable, but Intelligent Blends does it all. I've recently also been loving the organic, decaf espresso pods from Artizan, and their pods are also biodegradable!

Into the “fat coffee” craze? Sometimes called Bulletproof Coffee, Butter Coffee or Keto Coffee, it's now easier than ever to add high quality fats into your diet without the mess and hassle with Power Creamer–a delicious low carb, Keto friendly and sugar free addition to your cup of coffee. Made from grass-fed ghee, organic coconut oil and MCT Oil for additional energy, Power Creamer results in an instantly creamy, delicious and energizing cup of java! Use the code ROOT10 for 10% off!

If you're more of a tea person, I adore Pique Tea. These unique teas are composed of supercharged 100% organic tea crystals that dissolve in cold and hot water, no tea bags required. The crystals deliver 12x the antioxidants of teabags and 20x the antioxidants of bottled tea with no preservatives, sugar or additives. They also perform a Triple Toxin Screen for pesticides, heavy metals and mold. Get up to two FREE cartons + free shipping here!

19) Drink natural, organic wine.

Did you know there are 76 chemicals and additives approved by the FDA for use in winemaking?

Sadly, these additives are what really cause headaches, brain fog and hangovers. NOT the wine itself. WHOA! Game changer.

Learn more about the common additives found in wine in this post, which also details the best ways to avoid these additives and where to buy safe, natural and delicious wines!

While you can absolutely head down to your local wine shop or grocery store and try to find organic, biodynamic and/or natural wines, I’ve got one of my favorite recommendations that takes all of the time and guesswork out of the process for you: Dry Farm Wines, a revolutionary wine club curating dryfarmed (read: sustainable), low-alcohol, low sulfite, sugar-free and additive-free wines!

And you can get your first bottle of wine for just 1 cent. Yes, as in a single penny.

Here’s the deal: Dry Farm Wines is the only health quantified wine club in the world! It's one of the only places I know of that you can place an order and be GUARANTEED (via lab tests) that ALL the wines you’re buying are safe, natural and free of additives–which means that you should have no headache, brain fog or hangover after drinking. Cheers to that!

Ways to be healthy: Detox your bedroom

20) Detoxify your bedroom.

The health impact of our everyday items like bedding, mattresses, and furniture is real. Some of the toxic ingredients often found in standard mattresses are chemical flame retardants, heavy metals, formaldehyde, chloroform, phthalates, mercury and lead, to name a few. You may also have heard of the term Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), which is a term for hazardous materials– solids or liquids–that easily become vapors.

Not only can these toxins contact and get absorbed through contact with your skin–your largest organ–but these VOC emissions also pollute the air you breathe in your home.

Think about it: we spend roughly one-third of our lives sleeping, so it’s beyond important to make conscious decisions about WHAT we’re sleeping on, and what effect this has on our home, the environment and our personal health.

In this Ultimate Guide to Organic Mattresses and Natural Bedding, we share what you need to know in order to create a safe, healthy and eco-friendly sleeping space. Plus, we researched and tested some of the best non-toxic brands out there and break down the myriad of options for mattresses, sheets, pillows, towels and more!

21) Drink a green smoothie every day.

By now you may know that I like to focus on adding in more of the good, versus trying to take out the bad.

When I started drinking a green smoothie every day a few years ago, I lost weight, my inflammation went down dramatically (which meant my hormones balanced and my digestion improved) and I felt so much more energized. It's such an easy and delicious way to add fruits and veggies into your day!

You can join our free 7-day smoothie challenge here!

If you don't have the time or desire to make your own, there are some great delivery options that make this super easy.

Instead of having to buy a bunch of ingredients, measure them out and meal plan in advance, SmoothieBox comes with 20 ready-to-blend frozen smoothie pouches and you can choose from three delicious flavors: creamy cocoa, tangy green, and ginger-y clementine.

Each smoothie is naturally sweetened with real food like bananas and dates, with less than 20g of sugar and no added sugar or sweeteners–plus 20-28 grams of protein and healthy fats from whole foods and collagen. Order your first SmoothieBox here and get $10 off + free shipping on your first box!

Another downright delicious option is Daily Harvest–as I mentioned above, their Superfood Smoothies are preservative- and added sugar-free, and super easy–just blend and sip!

Ways to be healthy: test your DNA

22) Test your DNA.

DNA testing is the ultimate solution to getting detailed, hyper-personalized results about your unique health makeup and gene composition. With a simple DNA testing kit, you’ll learn your genetic health risks like what diseases you might easily defeat and which you need to watch out for, what you’re a carrier for that can be passed down to your kids, and influential diet, fitness and lifestyle recommendations that serve your unique blueprint!

The only DNA test I’ve tried is 23andMe’s Health + Ancestry Service, which gives you 90+ online reports of your ancestry, traits and health based on your 23 unique pairs of chromosomes.

Check out my personal results here!

Don't do it alone: if you order multiple tests for your family members you’ll get 10% off each additional Health + Ancestry Service!

23) Stick to your healthy food goals (and your budget!) by shopping online.

We all know what it's like to impulse buy at the grocery store. Your favorite chocolate bar on display at checkout? Gotta grab it. That 10 for $10 deal of bars you don't even eat? Load 'em up! And let's not forget about shopping on an empty stomach, when we make it home and unload our bags, already having forgotten about half the things we unnecessarily bought simply because our tummies were grumbling.

Avoid temptations and stick to your budget and food goals by shopping online for pantry staples. Many places like Amazon (I highly recommend Amazon Prime, it's worth every penny!) and Thrive Market even offer subscription services, so you can automatically receive the food you want without even having to think about it.

I regularly shop at Thrive Market, an online retailer selling healthy foods at wholesale prices. Right now they’re offering an extra 25% off your first order and a free gift when you sign up using this link. You’ll also get free shipping over $49+ orders and a free 30-day trial (available to new shoppers only).

RELATED:  Thrive Market Review + Shopping List

Another great option for shopping online is Instacart, a grocery delivery service for stores you already shop at like Whole Foods, Sprouts and even Costco. What's great about Instacart is that you can even get your produce delivered, meaning that you really don't have to step into a grocery store–talk about a time saver! In cities like here in Atlanta, they even do same-day delivery. Try it today and get $10 off your first order!

 24) Unplug.

As we talked about above with our sleeping tips, it's critical to unplug from your devices at minimum one hour before bedtime to not disturb your sleep cycles.

It's not just with sleep, though–internet addiction is linked to brain damage, (source) poor grades (source), and obesity in teenagers (source), to name a few.

One exercise you may want to try is called grounding, or earthing, which is essentially walking outside barefoot for at least 20 minutes a day. It is believed that the body runs a type of electrical current, and grounding directly connects the body with the earth’s electrical current, which in turn can reduce inflammation, lower stress hormones and help you sleep better. (source)

So get outside, take more time to be present, put your feet on the earth and feel the sunshine on your skin while you soak up some Vitamin D.

Ways to be healthy: be grateful

25) Be grateful.

Giving gratitude for what you have in your life has been scientifically proven to help with self-esteem, better sleep, increasing happiness, physical health and much more. (source)

Consider giving thanks out loud every morning to kick off your day, or start a gratitude journal that you write in every night before bed. It can be the smallest things, like feeling grateful for your cup of coffee that morning, or for a phone call you received from a friend. The more gratitude you can find throughout your day, the more things you'll start noticing that you can be grateful for!

One of my favorite tools is the 5-Minute Gratitude Journal–after just a week of using it, I couldn't believe how much brighter my mood was!

Over to you: what tips do you have for staying healthy in 2019? Let us know in the comments below!

5 thoughts on “25 Ways to be Healthy in 2019”

  1. I love all your tips here! I actually live by these principles, and I believe these are the key to sustainable health. I recently started practicing more gratitude, and I’m learning to unplug from social media when needed. By just doing these small changes, I noticed less stress, I am more productive now and feel better with my mood.

  2. Great tips. It’s funny, I just did a blog post on my return to healthy living. I’ve always been really into nutrition and living a healthy (as natural as possible) lifestyle, but really fell off the wagon a few years ago. It’s been a struggle to get back on, but I’m working on it. Your post is perfect timing for me, thanks.

  3. I love this post so much! Super comprehensive and inspiring, I want to do it ALL… but will take it one step at a time. 😉 I really love using EverlyWell to pinpoint my personal needs when it comes to my health, and am excited to try Health Warrior’s newest products!
