Know upfront that Root and Revel Collective always discloses the nature of partnerships with brands to our readers by including a disclaimer at the beginning of any post. Honesty and transparency is tantamount at R+R, and freebies or compensation will never “buy” a positive review. We welcome the opportunity to promote brands, products and services that are in line with Root and Revel's mission.

Thanks! We started out with Bluehost and we used them until our traffic reached over 50,000 page views per month. We then upgraded to a more expensive, but more feature-heavy service called Cloudways. But if you’re just starting out, Bluehost is the way to go--it's the best, cheapest and easiest option for beginning bloggers (plus, they give you your domain name for free if you decide to host with them!).

For the first 3 years of running Root + Revel, we used The Genesis Framework and StudioPress’ Foodie Pro Theme. Everything else was done by us. We can’t recommend this theme enough for food bloggers–it’s beautiful, easy to navigate, comes with a recipe index, and it’s super customizable.

We don't offer any courses at this time but we HIGHLY recommend Food Blogger ProWe used this course in our early days, with previous blogs we developed, and the guidance and tips this course provides are still used today to run the show here at Root & Revel Collective.

Another amazing tool to add to your Food Blog took kit is WP Tasty. The tools in WP tasty for recipes, images, and links are second to none! We also LOVE using Nutrifox. Nutrifox creates custom Nutrition Facts just like the ones you see on food packages! Your readers are going to love this!

Finally, if you're still in the early stages and don't have a domain name yet be sure to check out NameCheap!

Yes, absolutely! But under one condition--if you use one of Root and Revel's photos on your site, you must credit the photo with two links back to Root and Revel: one link back to the specific post the image came from and a second link back to rootandrevel.com.
