When we think of grilling, it seems most of us think about warm summer nights and backyard BBQs. There’s just something about the grill that seems to go with summer.
Why is that? Personally, my hubby and I use our grill all season long! To me, a sizzling, juicy steak in the heart of winter with some mashed potatoes and roasted veggies perfectly hits the spot.
Or how about some fresh shrimp skewers to welcome in the spring, or some flavorful Thai grilled chicken to encompass the richness of fall?
Not only can you not go wrong with the deliciousness of grilling, but it makes for such an easy meal, too! Having fewer pots and pans to clean is always a winner in my book.
Speaking of cleaning, definitely check out our handy DIY grill cleaner so you can be sure to keep your grill sparkling clean and safe from conventional (read: toxic) grill cleaning supplies.
THE BEST GAS GRILL UNDER $500
I was recently gifted the Weber Spirit II 3-Burner Gas Grill from the Home Depot and–lemme tell ya–this thing truly brought our grilling experience to the next level!
The spaciousness of the three burners means that you can grill for a crowd, perfect for holiday get-togethers! You can also cook multiple things at once, so while your burgers are searing, you can multitask and grill some veggies too, or give your burger buns a quick char.
I really appreciate the ‘flavorizer bar’ this grill comes with, which is an extra grate that keeps your food warm while the rest continues to cook. It’s perfect if someone in the crowd wants medium rare, while someone else wants well done (there’s always one, right?!).
Here are a few of my other favorite things about the Weber Spirit II 3-Burner Gas Grill I noticed while preparing some delicious meals recently:
- The grill gets really hot, cooking evenly and consistently, and really fast. It was a matter of minutes after turning it on that it was ready to go, which is a huge difference from how long our charcoal grill takes to heat up.
- It has a gauge that gives you an indication of how much gas is remaining, taking the guesswork out of when you’ll need to pick up a new tank.
- The grill features an ‘infinity ignition’, which means it lights up on the first try, every time–gotta love that! And it makes me less nervous about burning my eyebrows off trying to get the thing lit 😉
- There are six hooks for all your various tools, keeping them within easy and safe reach
Plus, if anything goes wrong, the Weber Spirit comes with a 10-year warranty, so you can be assured that this grill will last you at least a decade.
Now, if you’ve been around R+R awhile, you’ll know that I love smart technology.
One super cool perk of this particular grill is that you can buy a device called the iGrill 3, an app-connected thermometer that monitors your food from start to finish, showing the real-time temperature on your phone so you know exactly when to pull your food off the grates. I mean, how cool is that?
It’s hard to believe this grill is only $499. If you’ve been grill shopping recently, you’ll know that good quality grills really don’t come more affordable than this!
But of course, no product is without its flaws and I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you about one downside of this grill. Actually, I’m going to let my husband, Matt, tell you as he was the one who had this experience. From Matt:
I got to admit, unboxing the grill and seeing the sheer number of parts, along with the instruction’s 2-hour assembly time estimate, was quite overwhelming and caught me completely off guard. For some reason, I assumed the grill would arrive mostly assembled with the main DIY task being to attach the stand to the grill body. Admittedly, this was extremely naïve and very far from reality. But don’t fear, despite the numerous components, the assembly process is actually very simple overall, and it’s made even easier by the downloadable companion app called Bilt, which I highly recommend using in place of the old school paper instruction manual. Bilt provides an interactive 3-D walkthrough of the step-by-step instructions on your phone/tablet, and what I appreciated most about this app is that it provides audio alerts on certain steps with key details that would otherwise be easy to miss, such as, “ensure the wheels are facing to the right when adding this part.” Overall, assembling this Weber grill is a somewhat tedious, yet very straightforward process that took me just under 1.5 hours from unboxing to finished product.
I think every home needs a nice grill, so if you’re looking for an awesome holiday gift that will keep on giving for many years–or if you want to treat yourself to a better grilling experience–you can order your Weber Spirit II 3-Burner Gas Grill from Home Depot today!
