The Best FREE Workout Videos
Working out has long been a part of my lifestyle, though my workout routine has alternated between overpriced gym memberships and group fitness classes to free workout videos and at-home DVDs, running outside and, let’s face it, even some non-existent phases. Though I loved the motivation I got from group classes, I just find them to be too expensive and time-consuming–you’ve got to look halfway decent to be seen in public (I work from home and if I’m being honest, most days I’m lucky if my hair gets washed), spend upwards of 30 minutes in the car to get to and from the class (Atlanta traffic is no joke), plus shower and get ready afterwards, and that’s before you’ve even gotten to the 60+ minute workout.
Instead of swearing off exercise altogether, I’ve found that I’m more likely to stick to an exercise routine and actually work out every day when I can do so from the comfort of my living room, for little to no cost. Thanks to Youtube, it’s never been easier to find FREE workout videos online. I like to switch things up and do a combination of weights, interval training or HIIT and yoga and there are literally thousands of awesome videos to choose from. No excuses now!
Here are my favorite free workout videos on Youtube:
Jillian Michaels on BeFit
I don’t care what anyone says, Jillian Michaels workouts are the best, hardest, most effective workouts I’ve tried to date. I always work up a serious sweat, she really does keep you motivated and the results speak for themselves. Even better: working out with Jillian just got easier. In addition to her amazing DVDs (Hard Body is my all-time favorite!), you can now found many of her free workout videos on the BeFit channel. Check out Yoga Meltdown, which puts more of a strength-training spin on traditional yoga.
Tone It Up’s Bikini Series
I’m a huge fan of the Tone It Up girls–their workouts are efficient and effective, my favorite combo! Though their DVDs are oddly expensive ($40–have they not seen what every other DVD sells for?!), they offer dozens of free workout videos on their Youtube channel and I’ve found their 2015 Bikini Series to be full of killer workouts, usually in 30 minutes or less. My favorites are their kettlebell and HIIT workouts.
BodyFit by Amy
Speaking of kettlebells… after TIU’s Katrina showed me light on what an awesome workout kettlebells are, I went searching for more free kettlebell workout videos on Youtube and thankfully stumbled upon Bodyfit by Amy. This 10-minute kettlebell routine will leave you dripping sweat and muscles burning, and her other workouts are just as effective.
The Yoga Solution With Tara Stiles
I try to incorporate yoga at least once a week into my fitness routine and I’ve found Tara Stiles to be an incredible resource for at-home yoga. She’s got great 10-minute free workout videos covering everything from whole body yoga to cardio yoga and balance-focused, strength-building yoga. Her videos are great for a quick session, or if you have more time, combine 2-3 videos for a balanced (pun intended) 30-minute session.
